Atlanta CorpsVets Drum and Bugle Corps is proud to announce the latest addition to the corps' family of sponsored units.
In September 2009, the Atlanta CorpsVets entered into a partnership with the Northgate Independent Winterguard program for the 2010 competitive season. That association has generated a very positive relationship and growing ties between the two organizations. In the 2011 season, Ginger Armstrong, director of Northgate Independent, will join with long time friend and co-worker Rodney Bailey, the former director and designer for JSU Center Stage Winterguard to offer a new World Class Guard opportunity to the performers in the Atlanta area sponsored by the Atlanta CorpsVets Drum and Bugle Corps.
Matthew Richardson, creative designer for Northgate Independent, will also be collaborating with Rodney Bailey on the creative design for this unit. As an added bonus, Victor Mooney, Guard Caption Head and Program Coordinator for CorpsVets and director of "The Cast" Open Class guard, has agreed to serve as a consultant for the new unit as well.
CorpsVets Director Dr. David Stollberg commented, "This combination of directors, instructors and designers has been responsible for multiple appearances as finalist in A Class, Open Class and World Class at WGI finals over the last decade. We're extremely thrilled to have them on board as part of the CorpsVets expanded offerings to color guard performers in the Atlanta area." Bailey echoed Stollberg's enthusiasm, "I am very excited about the opportunity to give students another positive venue to perform, learn and grow. To be able to do this with close friends who share the same level of passion about the activity is an added bonus. It is going to be very exciting!."
This incredible new opportunity for performers in the Southeast will utilize the resources of the CorpsVets organization along with the talent and resources of these outstanding instructors. Armstrong stated, "Having the chance to work with some of my best friends and such great talents to bring another option to performers in the Atlanta area is very exciting. I can't wait to get started." CV Program Coordinator Victor Mooney added, "I have known Ginger and Rodney for several years, and have admired their work for a long time. I am proud to be a part of such a union and am very proud of CorpsVets for the insight to help make this happen. The possibilities are endless!"
